Coffee break
About this package
"What can be done about the coffee break?" That's the vital, perhaps unanswerable, question explored in the 1958 Calvin Company Training Film that counters the efficiency needs of management against the reality of human social behavior. The bosses' real pet peeve? Women.
"The problem? Well it seems like some people just don't know how to tell time, and, according to the boss, it's costing the company thousands of dollars per year." That extra five minutes here, that ten minutes there, really adds up.
"enossified" (from Daily Motion) edited cuts from this film that showcase its misognyst fetishism of grooming. At once a old-boy's-club ribbing at the absurdity of a mixed-gender workplace, this film clearly shows the catch-22 women were (and are) up against in trying to establish a place for themselves in business. Ambition undermines feminity, and vice-versa.
